Seller's comments about 1971' Fiat Dino

We are very pleased to be able to offer this beautiful Fiat Dino 2400 Coupe in arguably the colour that best suits the lines of these stylish GT cars.  Coming to the UK from Italy in December 2015, she is complete with a detailed history file containing invoices for an interior retrim in Italy, extensive works carried out since she has resided in the UK from Superformance (parts) and 24hundred (work carried out). There is also a 2015 report for her 1st UK owner from an Italian engineer who viewed the car in Italy to carry out a pre-purchase inspection for him. The file also contains a reprinted workshop book and the cars mint, original owners handbook in Italian of course! The Italian ASI certificate is also present. In the boot you will find a rare, complete original tool kit & jack in the correct bag, along with the often damaged or missing plastic battery cover. Rarest of all though is the original warning triangle in its box that all Dinos were supplied with, but is almost always missing.
This particular example was produced in April 1971, as shown on the comprehensive Italian ownership history from new. Purchased by her first owner on April 26th 1971 he obviously enjoyed her, keeping her until November 1988.
The 2nd owner again kept her for some years, passing her over to his son & 3rd owner in September 2001.
She left the long term family ownership on 2009, before ending up with an Italian garage in 2013 who carried out a full bare metal repaint to what, having been used sparingly and kept well, was a really excellent body which to this day appears to have had no welding to the floors or major structural repairs. They then sold the car to her next owner who carried out a detailed mechanical rebuild over his year of ownership, before she was purchased by her 1st UK owner at the end of 2015.
Her current and only 2nd UK owner purchased her last summer on a bit of a whim, but has since decided he would like to try something else.
Since 2013 she has had a 'no expense spared' schedule of maintenance and restorative works carried out, this began with the aforementioned bare metal body repaint, documented by photos in the file.
The following year the engine was given a health check (compression noted as very close to factory spec) with valve clearances adjusted and new timing chain tensioners fitted along with various other works noted in the engineers report. In addition the following was carried out at this time.
1. Brake overhaul with many new parts including master cylinder, calliper rebuild, new pads.
2. Rebuilt starter motor.
3. New updated fuel pump.
4. Reconditioned radiator.
5. New exhaust centre and rear sections.
6. New heater valve.
7. Major service.
8. Interior retrim to seats, carpets and centre console.
Once in the UK she was sent straight to Mark Devaney at 24hundred, a well known Dino expert. Between 2015 & 2020 an exhaustive and very thorough list of works were carried out by them, including the following:
1. Brake servo rebuild.
2. Rear brake calliper rebuild.
3. Replacement steering column bearings.
4. Steering box rebuild.
5. Full distributor rebuild & set up.
6. Carburettor tune.
7. New HT leads, plugs etc.
8. Complete new exhaust system front to rear.
9. New period correct Pirelli CN36 205/ 70W14 tyres.
10. Steering geometry set up.
11. Reconditioned rear shock absorbers.
12. New Koni front shock absorbers.
13. New Bosch battery.
14. Various ball joints replaced.
15. New water pump & associated hoses.
16. New engine mounts.
17. New alternator.
As can be seen the list of work is extensive and has made this one of the best Fiat Dinos we have driven, indeed she is reported by 24hundred to be 'one of the best in the UK'.
On arrival with us our sister company, Alex Jupe Motorsport, also an experienced Dino specialist with numerous restorations to these cars along with ongoing maintenance to a good number, carried out a minor service with new spark plugs, coolant change, fresh oil & filter. With this most recent work the total invoices on file since import to the UK amounts to over £16500. 00.
Fully detailed by us at AJM Classics she is now ready and raring to go and eagerly awaits a new home so she can stretch her legs on the open road once again!
