Beautiful, rare Ford Mustang that was produced for the European market called the Ford T5 in very good condition with a beautiful interior unlike any other Mustang. Exterior: Paint is in very good, shiny condition and the body is very straight. The paint has a few minor chips that are barely visible. The T5 version of the Mustang did not have any Mustang emblems, these were replaced with T5 emblems. All chrome is very shiny and in very good condition. Interior: Leather seats are a very nice color combination and in perfect condition with barely any ageing signs. Very special in these GT's different to other mustang versions, is the mid console which makes the car look even more badass. All gauges are working and all chrome in the interior is looking very good. Carpets look good but might need some cleaning. Mechanics: This Ford T5 came with a 289cu, V8 that has 4700cc. The engine code starts with an 'A' which means it originally came with 225 horsepower, which is different from the standard version 'C' that came with 195 horsepower. This example is powerful and very comfortable to drive with. History: The long awaited new sports car from Ford, the Mustang was introduced with much fanfare to the public in early April of 1964. The car featured innovative styling and was offered with several choices of engines, transmissions and options. The Mustang proved to be an instant success selling over 400, 000 units the first year. Early in the production cycle Ford encountered a problem while trying to export Mustangs to Germany in the usual manner used with export vehicles. Ford solved this marketing dilemma the easiest way possible, they simply changed the name of all Mustangs exported to Germany to Ford T5 which had been used as the internal project code during development of Mustang. The European market for Americans cars in the 50s and 60s was steady but relatively low in numbers. Few American cars were sold to Europeans due to the high cost of fuel and difficulty in getting parts. They were however, considered by the European elite to be prestigious imported cars and convertibles were especially popular due to their weather proof tops, powerful engines and high output heaters. Most American cars in Europe were sold to American service personnel who were able to purchase new American cars via the military PX system and could buy fuel at greatly reduced cost at on-base stations. When the tour of duty was completed the cars were shipped home compliments of Uncle Sam. This example has gone through exact this, the car was bought and served a long time at an American army station in Germany.
