Seller's comments about 1994' Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible
1998 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible
This Mustang was built in Dearborn, MI, via the SVT arm of Ford and then shipped to Stevens Ford in MIlford, where the single owner bought this triple black Cobra brand new in 1998.
In the first week, he and his wife took her out, put the top down and when they came home, put the top up and it hasn't been down since then until I took these photos.
With only 17,626 miles on the odometer, you can imagine that this car is near perfect, at least as near to showroom quality as most will find.
From the factory the SVT Mustang Cobra came armed with a DOHC 4.6L modular V8 that produces 305 HP and 300 lb ft of torque. Despite all that, average fuel economy of 22 MPG is easily obtainable. A Borg-Warner T-45 5 speed manual tramnsimission handles shifting duties.
Also stock for this Cobra was power steering, power windows, power locks, 4 wheel power disc brakes/ABS, Air bags, AC, Cruise Control, Variable rate shocks/springs, stainless dual exhaust, Traction-Lok rear diff, power mirrors, 4 way power driver seat with lumbar support air, 17" aluminum wheels, tilt wheel, SVT instrumentation, center console, interval wipers and other bits.
The listed options are black leather seating surfaces, black, coated fabric convertible top, Mach 460 Stereo system and speakers, multi disc CD changer-dash mounted, anti-theft system and the rear spoiler.
Not happy to leave well enough alone, the owner, within the first few years of ownership, installed chrome-aluminum matching wheels (same as the stock wheel just chrome), a Bassani stainless exhaust with X pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, Eibach springs, Toyo 315x35R17 Rear tires and Sumitomo HZR 255/40ZR17 in the front, new gear set in 4:10 ratio were installed into the Traction-Lok rear end and due to a factory fault, the CPU was replaced and re-flashed to SVT specs. ALL of the stock/original pieces are still present and will go with the car.
The listed changes all add to this car's performance and she is an absolute pleasure to drive, rumbling quietly along at the speed limit, barking and roaring to life when you put your foot into it, the large rear tires easily handling the HP and torque.
Although close to perfect, she does have just a couple of very minor flaws, a very small mark on the hood from a stone/acorn that bounced up on her way home from the dealership, which also put a very small chip in the windshield, so small it is very difficult to see and even photo. There is minor cushion wear on the driver seat left bolster (the leather still looks great) and there is also a small scratch under the front spoiler and back of the front left wheel well. (all noted in the photos).
This car is pretty much brand new, I've known some dealer demo cars that have been sold as new with almost as many miles. The VIN decals are still on all the parts, part# tags are still on most parts as well. This car has never seen rain.
This car sold new in 1998 for just over $30,000.
It is now on sale for $28,500, negotiable.
