Seller's comments about 1939' Ford Standard 2 Door Sedan
I imported this car from Colorado, USA in 2019. It had been fully rebuilt about nine years ago and then stored. This was the first year for hydraulic brakes, and fully synchro transmission on Fords, and tube front axle. Last year of the opening front screen. The previous owner kept a fastidious record of the $17, 000 he spent on the car, not including the engine, and there is lots of paperwork and photos to support this. One of the shots in my advert has a list of the new parts fitted. The period engine modifications include a 1942 49AB Flathead motor with Mercury crank, giving a displacement of 255 cu in. Vintage Winfield SUA-1 performance cam & Offenhauser finned aluminium heads and inlet manifold. Straight through 2 3/ 4" exhaust sounds great. Comes with a spare matching Holley 94 with a view to fitting dual carb set up. All of the panels are original, and it has never had any rust. Paint job is presentable, but not a show winning finish. There is a small crease in the o’s rear wing, and a few scratches and some road rash, but on the plus side it is otherwise very straight with perfect panel gaps. Interior is fully re-trimmed with deluxe steering wheel and TPI aftermarket gauges. New tyres, tubes and professionally banded rims on rear. 5. 50 on the front and 6. 50 rears. Steering is original and surprisingly light and well set up. The only issues are: Wipers not connected to vacuum. Electric speedo not linked up yet. Brakes still need some bedding in, as brand new. Based in Southampton. No silly offers please, as priced fairly. I will just hang on to it, and I am not desperate! Only selling due to trying to thin my collection down due to health reasons preventing me working on them. Can sell minus engine for 14, 500 if you want to go the later V8 route. Car located in Southampton near J8 M27.
