Seller's comments about 1941' Plymouth Model P11

1941 Plymouth P11 Deluxe Sedan

For consignment, a 1941 Plymouth Deluxe that has been reworked, rodded, and painted to emulate a shiny rat rod with a business logo and name on either side. Nice lines, a shaved front bumper, dual doors, and good panel gaps have this car showing as a rat ride, but in reality it's all buttoned up.

Exterior

Rust-free steel panels bathed in dark burgundy (nearly purple) help accentuate this stylish rounded four-door sedan. Plenty of chrome trim highlights the sexy Art Nouveau lines of the front end. It features a squashed oval grille split in the middle by a vertical rising V shape that continues through the hood ornament and onto the hood itself.

From there, a pointed bulbous hood forms another widening V shape and runs to the pillarless split windshield. A chrome trim spear originates at the front of the hood and continues along the upper beltline of the entire car. A single headlight is mounted on the front of each fender and wears a chrome bezel, while smaller round turn signals are frenched into the front fenders.

The exterior-mounted fenders and hood have been painted to simulate worn paint and surface rust. It's a neat airbrushed effect that remains very glossy over the deep burgundy finish. These fenders frame 18-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in medium-width low-profile tires.

The business name, logo, and address are painted on the doors. The rear fenders and trunk continue the airbrushed aged appearance while maintaining well-aligned panel gaps. Chrome on the rear bumper and taillight bezels remains clean and bright. The rounded passenger compartment roofline incorporates an elongated oval rear window that enhances the early torpedo-style design. The car looks aged but gleams brilliantly—a very neat effect.

Interior

Opening the doors reveals gray faux suede broadcloth uppers, maroon velour center panels, and lower gray carpeting. Bakelite and chrome knobs and levers complete the design.

Inside are newer broadcloth-covered late-model seats with light gray bolsters and maroon tuck-and-roll inserts. A wide center armrest separates the front seats, while a matching rear bench provides plenty of room for passengers. These seats sit within a sea of gray carpeting.

A Grant GT Rally steering wheel fronts an all-steel modernized dashboard featuring black-faced, white-lettered VDO gauges with black bezels. The dashboard itself is painted in the same burgundy color as the exterior. The center section houses a digital chrome radio along with orange toggle switches and billet controls. A silver heater box remains mounted beneath the dashboard, and a near-perfect gray cloth headliner finishes the cabin.

Drivetrain

Under the bulbous, airbrushed-aged hood sits a Chevrolet 350ci V8 engine. Fuel is delivered through a 4-barrel carburetor mounted on an Edelbrock intake manifold. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission handles gear changes, while an 8¾-inch rear axle delivers power to the pavement.

A dual glasspack-style exhaust system handles the exhaust note. The engine bay presents very well, featuring an aluminum radiator, updated wiring, and a new master cylinder.

Undercarriage

On the lift, we find a solid black-painted X-frame with black rustproofed floor pans. The rocker panels show some surface and invasive rust but remain relatively solid. We also note some floor repairs along with spray-foam-filled holes that have mostly been painted black.

The inner fenders display patina paint and road grime. Surface rust is visible on components of the independent front coil-spring suspension and rear leaf springs. Braking consists of power front disc brakes and power rear drum brakes.

Drive-Ability

The car starts quickly and heads out to the test track with smooth acceleration and easy steering once underway. Straight, bias-free panic stopping is a plus, and the ride is comfortable.

The turn signals do not flash and the wipers do not operate, making this more of a fair-weather cruiser.

A car with an older look thanks to its airbrushed patina-style deep burgundy paint, this Plymouth offers a clever visual effect while maintaining a glossy finish. Combined with its modernized interior and mechanically sound drivetrain, this rounded road ship delivers both style and usability. Slap your business name on the side and let the business roll in!
