Seller's comments about 1966' Gaz M-21 Wołga
Good morning, Since, due to unfavorable experiences, I buy much more often (and more willingly) than I sell, please read the description carefully and watch the attached video before you pick up the phone. The point is not to alienate/scare the seller, i.e. me. I openly state that I will not say anything more about the vehicle over the phone than what can be gleaned from the mentioned video or verbal description, to which I am now moving on. This wonderfully beautiful vehicle has been in my possession for some time now and I came into possession of it as a result of my uncontrollable desire to... own it. Exactly the same as the other surplus vehicles in my God bless you "collection"... The plan was to renovate, repair, recreate and enjoy everyday driving this wonderful classic, a product of top-class Soviet technology. You can say - the plan seems perfect! Yes, although it has a certain medical disadvantage. You ask in your letters "what kind is it?" Well, I hasten to explain, because it's ridiculous in its simplicity - when I multiplied the number of hours needed to implement this plan on a calculator and added the resulting result to the hours needed to implement a dozen or so other (still growing) plans, it turned out that I would have to live for almost a hundred years after cloning myself, probably even twice. Unfortunately, current medicine is not ready for this yet. Yes. I do everything myself - I won't let anyone make money. Yes, I have. But let's get to the point. Although it will be difficult. The vehicle arrived in the country a few years ago on its own wheels, covering 1,000 kilometers in one shot. This impressed me greatly, because the traction qualities are so far from those I was used to when dealing with cars only a dozen or so years younger, but produced in countries where technical culture was established faster and developed systematically instead of in leaps and bounds, but in small steps (as in the USSR). For a normal modern person, I recommend trips of a maximum of five kilometers, preferably not behind the wheel. Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, because driving a Beetle and a Nysa is even worse, and yet they painstakingly built our economy ;) Anyway. The car was functional, drivable and remained so. Although, to make the drive a bit more pleasant, it would be necessary to change the clutch-brake master cylinder or bleed the brakes somehow (I didn't succeed, although I admit - I didn't put much effort into it), the effect is that from time to time you have to "pump the brake" with the foot switch to make the car brake. Despite the drum nature of the brakes, they are surprisingly "sharp". The mounting of the spring hanger to the side member is weak (corrosion) (but does not break off) and there is play in the steering knuckle on the front right - it knocks. The car has corrosion, but mainly surface corrosion, although there are some perforations in the nooks and crannies. For the winter, you would need to install and connect "some" heater, currently the system is dismantled. The fan is there and working. The front seat upholstery needs to be sewn - especially the backrest is in terrible condition. The rest of the upholstery is OK, although not beautiful. Yes, a rubber mat on the floor is standard equipment of this dignitary limousine. It may be disgusting, but so practical! Someone could have got in in muddy rubber boots and the interior basically looked the same! What would happen if there were beautiful fabric carpets on the floor, like in the vehicles of the Rotten West at that time - it's not difficult to imagine. Because the power supply of the electrical installation was converted to an alternator and there is also an electronic ignition module - the installation is (to put it mildly) a bit messed up and someone has apparently shorted out a bit under the dashboard, which is why the electricity "loses" from time to time, only to reappear after a while. I didn't want to touch it, because knowing my approach, I would have ripped the whole thing out and re-wired the wires, and that would have ended with the car and the garage being trapped for many months... Due to the swap of the gearbox for the "fourth gear", the car has no parking/handbrake. The car was quite ineptly painted in a "whiter (than factory) shade of white" and corrosion is visible here and there, although it must be admitted that from a distance of five steps, (and if you have better eyesight, eight) the car looks quite... good. On the left side of the vehicle there are scratches and a dent on the rear door caused by the driver's loss of control of the vehicle "due to" ;) a burst front left tire that happened during the trip to Poland. The car arrived, the famous 1000 km, with tires in such a terrible condition that... I have never seen them like that before :DAfter purchasing the car, I regenerated the wheels (sandblasting + powder coating), bought and installed almost brand new original "deck" tires (modern radial tires are definitely too low, hence the decision to use the original ones), including a spare with new KABAT inner tubes. The wheels have been balanced. I started the odometer, replaced body fluids, removed coolant leaks, bought and activated horn horns (slightly different brackets from Warsaw), thoroughly cleaned the interior (it stank of low-quality cigarettes) and exterior, washed the rear seat, tidied up the lighting so that the car passed the inspection, obtained an expert opinion and registered the car as yellow. All this cost well over PLN 5k. Looking at the above, I'm a little embarrassed to write this, but... well, let's face it, I encourage you to buy it! Seriously! After purchasing this car, for many weeks I was "excited" by the primitiveness of this structure, archaic solutions, the way of driving, the sound and... the smell (!!) as it vividly reminded me of my grandfather's Beetle sadness from my childhood years. Unfortunately, I quickly extinguished this enthusiasm with subsequent equally well-thought-out purchases, and now I don't want to revive it again. Hence the decision to sell :)https://youtu.be/ixpQmTIHJyEPGreetings and congratulations on making it to the end of this story :)
