A simply magnificent grand & opulent statement of one of the finest cars money could buy in the 1930's. This Hispano Suiza was ordered in 1934 by Dr. Moll Van Charante & sent to D'Iteran for the cabriolet body to be installed that we find upon the car today. Hidden during second world war hostilities, it was post war sold to Dr. E. P. Rink of the Wll Hospital. Subsequently it made its way to the USA where it was under the ownership of William Burden & his descendants.
The car is powered by the legendary 9. 4 litre Hispano Suiza V12 engine which having been fully rebuilt previously runs beautifully. The engine has the same bore & stroke giving it a rare square configuration as opposed to the more common long stroke configuration sed in other marques to reduce taxable levies. Clearly these were cars produced for money no object type customers.
Of the four chassis lengths available this car was specified with the second shortest available of the four with a 146" wheel base, the longer versions being typically for limousines. The Body by D'Iteran is a masterpice of proportion looking both rakish & stylish whilst masking light of the cars massive dimensions. The chassis price at the time was some 200, 000 francs irrespective of chassis size ordered. The original stork mascot by Francois Bazin adorns the top of the radiator.
This car was subject to a full restoration in the USA with new pistons being cast from scratch etc. The car is now in very very tidy order though out with a very light patination to the wonderful leather interior etc. This car is spacious with seating for up to 6 people. The rear is particularly commodious with huge leg room & a separate windscreen to afford protection to the rear occupants.
