First registered to a Mr Ian Sommerville by Ritchies Jaguar on October 25, 1966, this excellent Carmen Red, Uk supplied Series 1 4. 2 Fixed Head Coupe has remained in its current ownership since 2006. Having made its debut at the Geneva motor show of 1961 initially with a 3. 8-litre straight-six engine the engine size was increased from 3. 8 to 4. 2-litres in October 1964 and, with that change, came a sweeter all-synchromesh gearbox and better brakes. Many argue that the early 4. 2 Litre Series 1 cars with toggle switches are the E-Types to covet most as they retain much of the unadorned rawness of the 3. 8 Litre cars, but then benefit from the mechanical improvements described previously. Included within the sale is a large file of paperwork with old V5's (including the all important 'buff logbook'), many invoices and even more old MOT certificates dating back to 1980. There is a letter from Jaguars Cars (Heritage Certificate info) confirming that this car was supplied in Carmen red, the colour that it sports today. It is current ownership this example has been treated to a number of improvements; for example, the engine was fully overhauled, tested and refitted by Ric Wood of Stockport in 2007. It has also benefited from a new set of upgraded chrome wire wheels, Coopercraft brakes front and rear, a stainless steel exhaust and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. With excellent provenance, a nicely patinated interior and a paint finish that is stunning throughout, we feel that this car represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a very smart home market car for less than £100, 000.....
