Seller's comments about 1960' Jaguar Mk9

GYS 28 is a matching numbers Jaguar MKIX supplied new in Pearl Grey with Red leather upholstery, distributed out of Henlys, London. The Jaguar was sold new by Peerless Motors in Slough to Venetian Vogue Ltd in Berkshire and dispatched on the 28th April 1960. The car was registered new with the Company’s private registration mark VV 1000 and later went onto the registration mark GYS 28.
The Jaguar is an exceptional driving example and with its last two owners has had a huge level of expenditure, restoration work and reversible upgrades to make this one of the finest driving MKIX's we have ever come across. We have known the Jaguar for several years now, and was essentially a remarkably original, well cared for example that had covered little under 70, 000 miles from new. GYS 28 was then put through a rolling light refurbishment program including upgrades, covering around 3000 miles throughout works being completed.
This Jaguar MKIX has so many selling points, not just the fact its very correct in its appearance in original colours, retains its original 3. 8 engine and is one of the best driving examples we've come across, but the car boasts real provenance and has had specific works that really enhance the car. Renowned Jaguar expert Ken Jenkins rebuilt the 3. 8 engine with new main and big end bearings, polished crankshaft and over £10, 000 alone was spent on a four speed ZF automatic gearbox conversion (original gearbox with the car) that completely transforms the driving quality of the car. Other upgrades including spin on oil filter, Dynalite alternator, electronic ignition and front anti-roll bar that hugely improves the ride.
Cosmetically the Jaguar was treated to careful underside preparation ensuring it to be structurally excellent, the engine bay was treated to various re-furbishment work and much of the chrome work renewed. External bodywork is impressive having been re-painted many years ago to a very high standard. The interior was treated to new carpets, renewed leather and whilst this was a largely original car not requiring full restoration, there are invoices on file heading towards £40, 000.
GYS 28 presents beautifully, and on the road is an incredibly smooth driving MKIX with excellent oil pressure, a fabulous performing strong, rebuilt engine and a beautifully built 4 speed ZF gearbox that transforms the car. This MKIX feels so much younger on the road than it is, it has smooth take up under acceleration, wonderfully smooth gear changes and the steering and suspension really inspire confidence. On uneven roads the steering still feels precise, handling is never upset and without doubt after its expenditure and upgrades, the MKIX now makes a very nice long distance touring car and qualifies as one of those cars where the driving experience matches the lovely external appearance. This is a very special car, and its ready to enjoy.
