Land Rover series 1 1949 silver chassis in very good condition restored a couple of years ago from the ground up, everything that needed replacing was, with as much NOS items as possible. Lots of receipts, since rebuild covered just over 4000miles with no issues, a real pleasure to drive. Used on a regular bases. Original UK vehicle with original reg. Heritage certificate with it. 4 owners from new, was owned by one family for 38years on their farm down in Dorset which was two of the owners passed from father to son. Only 1500 silver chassis 49s were produced and a lot of them were exported finding an original Uk one is quite rare. They were a cross over from the 48 pressed bulkhead type they are near on identical vehicles apart from the date of manufacture.
During restoration:
* Gearbox was stripped/ checked new bearings/ seals * Axles were shot blasted, new bearings/ seals/ swivels/ ball joints/ steering relay * Engine was running when I got it, was stripped checked full decoke new gaskets/ seals all round, head off, valves re-grounded * Original chassis/ bulkhead shot blasted, where new metal was needed was done by a professional put in a jig this applied to bulkhead as well * New fuel tank/ guard, new SU electronic fuel pump * Original Gauges refurbished * New exhaust * New autosparks wiring loom * New shock absorbers, the original leaf spring were stripped and resembled * New seats/ canvas from undercover covers * Capping etc all re-galvanized * New brakes master cylinder/ wheel cylinders/ pipes. Has the original hydrostatic brake set up original shoes re-lined/ refurbished, original non adjusting back plates * New tyres original tread pattern * New rims from JLR * All ancillaries refurbished * Steering box refurbished * New body panels door bottoms/ tailgate/ inner and outer wings all from Keith Wadsworth. New rear tub so everything is absolutely straight no dents/ ripples down the sides. All spot welds can be seen * The rest of the original body panels on the vehicle were taken back to bare metal before paint * All new sheridised fastenings nuts/ bolts etc * All new domed/ pop rivets
