Previously sold by us in the past. Heater with Demist. Rear Bench Seats with 4x Lap Belts. Under Bonnet Immobiliser. Seat Belt Bar. 7x Seats with Belts. We are delighted to present for sale this rare, early Series 2 which has been rebuilt onto a galvanised chassis. The Series 2 land rover (not the Series 2a) was built between 1958-1961, and there are a few subtle differences – the vent openers are the most telling aspect! We’ve had the honour of selling this car on two previous occasions within the last 20 years – and thanks to a change of circumstances for the current keeper – we are able once again to offer this vehicle for sale.As the photos show, there are lots of period features one would hope to see – the bonnet mounted spare, wing top mounted mirrors, recent canvas, vintage number plates, front and rear mud flaps and rear grab handles to name a few. A few modern items have been added too, such as a tow bar and electrics to allow towing. This complements the rebuild onto the Galvanised Chassis, so not only is it a solid vehicle, but it looks the part too.The interior of this vehicle is largely standard, with the notable addition of a passenger wiper (an option in these days!) and a heater, with front demist – handy for winter days, and keeping the windscreen clear. There are three front deluxe seats, with the outers being the ‘High Back’ type with integrated headrest for additional comfort. Deluxe Matting is fitted to the floors. If you look closely, you’ll see those unusual ‘twist type’ vent openers above the dash – a key difference between the Series 2 & 2a. The rear houses a pair of bench seats to bring seating to seven people including the driver, and all four rear seats have lap belts fitted. The front seats benefit from outer front inertia belts & a central lap belt, meaning every seat in this vehicle has the belt.Out on the road, this vehicle drives just as it should – it feels just like a vehicle should that has been previously rebuilt – well sorted and delivering a pleasing period drive. The slightly larger over standard tyres give additional gearing whilst not making the steering unduly heavy, which is a nice touch. The petrol engine is a keen unit – and a strong folder of receipts and previous MOTs for work – which is not commonly seen – is nice to note. There is a “rally spec” cut off switch under the bonnet which can be removed for additional security and slow drains to the battery if leaving for longer periods of time.In summary, if you are looking for a Land Rover Series 2 which has been rebuilt, in period petrol format, then this could be for you. Not only should this Series 2 stand the test of time, thanks to the Galvanised Chassis rebuild, but with the added benefit of MOT & Tax Exemption and Classic Insurance, it should prove cost effective to live with too.Priced at £24, 995
