Seller's comments about 1971' Mercedes-Benz Sl

Mercedes SL (R107). More massive, more comfortable than the predecessor of the "Pagoda", a much safer convertible, it had half the body stiffness, controlled crumple zones and soft finishing materials in the cabin. V8 engines appeared under its hood, giving it a powerful sound, charisma and character. The Mercedes 450 SL R107 perfectly meets most of the expectations we could have for a vintage car. On the one hand, it is elegant and has good associations. On the other hand, it is completely different from modern cars. Thanks to the soft suspension, it is extremely comfortable, but when we press the gas pedal on the highway, we won't be left behind. For sale is a copy from the beginning of production, which has been fully renovated and looks great. The presented car is the first series of the Mercedes R107 model. The car dates back to December 1971 and first hit the road in 1972. This model year has so-called "tasteful" elements that were replaced in subsequent years with cheaper materials, e.g. small, subtle chrome side mirrors. chrome cover for the jack, clock in the center of the console, factory flashlight in the glove compartment, chrome door handles, Becker radio with chrome elements, steering wheel that was only available at the beginning of production, grill star made entirely of metal and chrome-plated, etc. Body in 568 Signalrot color combined with light Kissel Beige interior. It was imported to Poland in 2016 and that's when the process of complete renovation began. From the very beginning, the main idea was to restore it to the condition in which it left the factory. Below I will try to describe the individual renovation processes. The bodywork was disassembled down to the last screw in order to verify the condition of individual elements. After cleaning, the body was protected and then painted in accordance with the factory code. Additionally, all sensitive places were protected with protective agents. Chrome elements partially renovated and polished. Refurbished lamps (new reflectors). New bumper rubbers. Suspension completely renovated. all rubber elements were replaced with new ones. The metal elements were sandblasted and powder coated. All brake lines are new. Full regeneration of calipers with new discs and pump. The steering system has been inspected (gear regeneration). The engine has been disassembled and verified. The heads were carefully prepared before reassembly. All seals are new. Regeneration of injectors and all engine equipment. The radiator was used from the most efficient version without a gearbox oil cooler in the radiator. The gearbox was also inspected and worn parts were replaced. The interior upholstery was almost completely changed to a new one in accordance with the manufacturer's code. The console is covered with new factory material. The electrical equipment (instrumentation, watch, indicators, radio, electrical harnesses) has been regenerated. Additionally, all seals were replaced with new ones without exception. To sum up, the entire work is estimated at approximately 2,000 working hours. After completing the work, the Mercedes has covered approximately 3,000 km, so all minor defects have been eliminated and it is safe to say that it is 100% ready to drive. We have a large number of photos from each stage of work. The car is registered in Poland. I invite you to watch it live in Krakow
