Seller's comments about 1967' Mercedes-Benz Sl-Klasse

Very well maintained Pagoda as a rarer 250 SL. The vehicle is currently being partially restored including an overhaul of the engine. Very clean vehicle from a large collection from Great Britain. First delivery in Europe (no US import). Speedometer in km/h.

Vehicle price including Austrian individual permit.

Story
Only 5196 examples of this rare vehicle were built. These vehicles are now sought after and in demand, especially due to the short production time and maturity of the 230SL. In terms of performance, they are hardly inferior to their successor (280SL).

Few coupés and convertibles have harmonized sobriety, everyday utility and elegance as skilfully as the Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagode”. This is the name for the W 113 series from 1963 to 1971. The Pagoda was that sleek car with the slightly concave roof and proportions that oscillated between sporty and sexy in a way that is difficult to describe. A successful success, this 113 series, better known under the model names 230 SL, 250 SL and 280 SL. “Less than 50,000 units of this series were produced, two thirds of which were exported. The fact that such a car still lives in the collective memory as a legend is the best proof of its exceptional quality,” says Pagode expert Brian Long.

By the way, the Pagoda has always been the cruiser for the rich and famous. Movie stars like Doris Day, Sophia Loren and Senta Berger were only too happy to be behind the wheel of the pagoda on screen and in real life. In fact, the 230 SL combined the talents of the unproblematic touring car with those of the fast athlete almost perfectly. The smooth-running recirculating ball steering with optional power assistance impressed the contemporary testers, as did the particularly large 14-inch wheels with standard radial tires (a first for Mercedes) and the high long-distance comfort of the SL, which was equipped with mundane mass-produced technology from the S-Class of the time.
For many fans, the pagoda remains one of the most beautiful stars in Stuttgart to this day. The car also received a monument on the German cinema screen: in Til Schweiger's road movie “Knocking on Heaven's Door” a pagoda with a suitcase of money in the luggage compartment plays a key role.

The vehicle
The vehicle on offer is a perfect symbiosis of restoration and originality. Honest and unvarnished, it is the reliable companion for trips and lifestyle.
It is equipped with whitewall tires and the engine is currently being overhauled (with warranty). The interior has already been renewed and the paint shines freshly polished with a few signs of wear.

The pagoda is currently being prepared for the next customer and a takeover before the summer.
