This is a cute little Part Exchange that we have just taken in! This is a 1970 MG Midget Mark III, finished in Red with Black Interior with Wire Wheels, she is a nicely looked after example showing 15k Miles on the clock, subject to recent recomissioning, she is a fun entry into the classic car world!First introduced in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) on the 20th May 1958 and intended as a low-cost model, the Sprite was designed by the Donald Healey Motor Company which received a royalty payment from the manufacturers BMC. The low cost of £669 was achieved by using a mildly tuned version of the A-Series engine and as many other components from existing cars as possible. Manufactured at the MG sports car factory at Abingdon, it was not surprising that the success of the design would lead to an MG version known as the Midget. The final version of the Austin Healey Sprite arrived in 1966 as the Mk. IV. The new model now used a twin carburettor 1275cc version of the proven A-Series engine which it shared with other BMC models such as the Mini Cooper S.Originally registered on 5th August 1970, this MG Midget has been owned by the previous owner for the last four years and presents in good all-round condition, he spent about £1, 500 in 2023 getting the car ready for daily use and had his fun with it. She drives nicely and is ready to use or improve, there is an area on the bonnet and front wing that would benefit from attention, having swirl marks in the paint but the general condition is very good! Our car has the 1275 engine with excellent oil pressure sound gearbox which is smooth through all gears. the interior is very clean, no rips or tears on original seats and carpets are like new. Part of the recommissioning was fitting new coil, plugs, leads, oil and filter, Battery, fuel pump and pipes, carb overhaul. The engine runs really well with excellent oil pressure and temperature showing normal . The exhaust and rear springs look new, the painted MWS wire wheels also look newish and she has new tyres all round. The brakes have been overhauled and the chassis appears solid! All in all, a very nice little midget, in the nicest colours, ready for daily use!
