Seller's comments about 1963' Morris Mini Cooper S
Here we have a truely magnificent 1071cc Morris Mini Cooper S We all know how rare the 1071cc Cooper S is with just a little over 4000 units built in total spread across Austin and Morris brands. The particular car is just breathtaking. dispatchfrom from Appleyards in Huddersfield in 1963 after being registere on the 9th September when it was supplied in the same colours as it sports today - Tarten red with a black roof and red trim. It is known that the car was actively used in the first 8 yerars of its life before being parked up in 1971 requring restoration. The vehicle was parked up for some time before it was purchased in order for it to be rebuilt. This was a failed project due to family commitments becuase the current custodian was able to buy it. in its current ownership no stone has been left unturned in regards to its restoration. The body shell was handed to the extremely well skilled Barkstone refinishing of grantham where it was completely refurbished to a concourse standard while the rest of the components were either refurbished or renewed to an A1 standard too. The front apron was replaced with new old stock panels. The vehicle retains its original engine and gearbox meaning it is a matching numbers car. The engine has been completely rebuilt using a correct AEG151 flat front block which has been rebored to +10 which still retaining its originalend caps. Nitrided crank 10/ 10 12A185 big valve cylinder head which is pre AEG163 etc - this is finished with twin Downton ST H4 carburettors 13/ 4 ram pipes and an early works style centre exit exhaust system. - All built by Ian Osborne (the EX Avonbar at OAP engineering) and has covered just 700 miles since completion. The gearbox is the correct 22G190 3 synchro complete with early anti sizzle remote and early painted gearstick. the correct 3. 4 diff is fitted with allowed for a correct reading from the original rebuilt 120mph speedo. This is the 43rd Morris Cooper S off the production line and 108th Cooper S off the production line in total. A point of interest is that the engine number on this car is 16 units younger than the famous works Cooper S (EJB 33) that won the Monte Carlo rally in 1964! Viewins are always recommended - why not book? "Our Coffee pot is always hot!"
