Prinz 1000 was created by extending the body in the side window area while keeping the door dimensions unchanged. All NSU models are produced exclusively as two-door limousines. The NSU-Prinz 1000, although registered in the NRF for 5 people, is basically a four-seater vehicle. This does not mean that it cannot transport one more person.
Controls - the two-spoke steering wheel does not obscure the round indicators above the column. These are from left to right: electric clock, speedometer and fuel gauge. All instruments are easily legible both day and night, and the speedometer was the smoothest instrument we've encountered. On the left side of the board there is a set of four key switches - city light, dipped beam, left and right parking light. The latter go out when the ignition is turned on. To switch from low beam to high beam, use the lever on the right side under the steering wheel. The same lever, pressed down by the resistance of the spring, turns on the lights on high beam. There is also a two-speed wiper switch on the instrument panel, which is also a window washer button.
Maneuverability – thanks to the large wheel turn and small dimensions, Prinz 1000 is one of the easiest vehicles to maneuver.
Driving - placing the engine as close to the rear wheel axis as possible and the extensive use of light alloys in its construction - the entire drive unit with the gearbox, final drive and electric machinery weighs only 132 kg - made Prinz one of the few rear-engine cars, having good manners on the road, we would venture to say that in this respect it is generally the leader among rear-engine cars. The shape of the car is very harmonious, despite the compact structure and relatively short "boxes" of the trunk and engine.
