Hello to everyone interested in Oldsmobile.
After five years of enjoying Oldsmobil 88, the time has come to change the owner, so I invite you to read the advertisement and submit offers ;)
The story of my Oldsmobile began with contact with Andrzej from Bujal78, well known in the American car community, who personally verified the condition of the car in Canada before purchasing it - the priority was to have a car in very good body and paint condition. After successful verification, the car was sent to Poland, where it turned out that the paint on all elements of the car was factory - it is a single-layer metallic on an acrylic base. The first steps I took after importing it were inspection and mechanical service at the Midpoint workshop in Nadarzyn, specializing in vintage American cars. After performing the necessary filter and oil services, removing leaks from under the valve covers and carburetor adjustments, the Olds was handed over to the team from the Projekt X Nadarzyn upholstery studio. Virtually the entire interior was completely dismantled and then rebuilt according to an individual design, including the slats around the doors, carpet, headliner and the entire trunk. During the upholstery work, the extremely good condition of the car was once again confirmed (I will send available photos of the renovation to interested parties). The next stage was the replacement of the windshield, which was imported from the United States along with a new gasket, as well as the replacement of the middle muffler (the old one was clogged).
Oldsmobile has many advantages that will certainly be appreciated by its future owner:
1) Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission - of course, it is not a demon of gear change speed, but it can have a very positive impact on fuel consumption (I will write about it later)
2) The set of indicators is moved above the dashboard - thanks to this, the handbrake, generator operation and oil pressure signals are always visible
3) Negative pressure fan behind the rear seat - it can be treated as a curiosity because its effectiveness is not amazing, but it still works and is doing well
4) V8 engine with a capacity of 324 cui with an incredibly pleasant sound (soon I will add a video that should cover this issue)
5) Completely original paint - although there are chips, scratches and the like on the paint, it looks very good and does not require renovation (the car is about to be 70 years old!)
6) Perfect glass - after replacing the windshield, the condition of the vehicle's glazing is very good with a plus
7) The chrome is in exceptionally good condition (external and internal) - if that wasn't enough, I also include a large package with replacement chrome, emblems and much more.
8) Air filter that has been modified from wet to dry (this makes servicing easier and faster and we do not have to worry about the lack of availability of air filters)

Over the five years together, we have covered a total of over 6,000 kilometers and one would like to say that we covered this entire distance without any failures, but this would not be true. One of many rides ended with a return to the trailer due to a prosaic and difficult to predict fault - a broken brake shoe spring. After this situation, all jaws with springs were replaced as a preventive measure. The longest route covered in one day - practically in one day - was almost 400 kilometers long, and calm driving along expressways at a cruising speed of 90 km/h resulted in fuel consumption of less than 11 liters per hundred, which I consider a phenomenal result. If the fuel consumption purists have survived this far, I would like to inform you that in a combined cycle you can expect fuel consumption of 14 liters ;)
An issue worth mentioning is definitely repairs that have not been included in the announcement so far. The following service work has been carried out since purchase:
-battery replacement
- idler replacement
-generator regeneration
-replacement of the vacuum valve
-oil pan seal
-replacement of the left front lamp
- oil and filter service once a year on average
Of course, the vast majority of the above activities were performed by the already mentioned Midpoint workshop, where I also regularly serviced my second classic (Mercury visible in the last two photos).
I estimate the price for which I am willing to hand over the keys (two sets + a period magnetic box containing an additional key) to the Oldsmobil 88 at PLN 114,900. If you have another interesting offer - I will be happy to meet it after inspecting the car - I am not in the habit of negotiating prices over the phone. I would also like to mention that I am only interested in selling - I do not take into account exchanges.
