Seller's comments about 1965' Porsche 911

• One of the desirable early short-wheelbase 2. 0-litre Porsche 911s, completed in August 1965 and delivered new in Signal Red over Black Leatherette.• Comprehensive FIA historic race preparation completed in the UK by respected Porsche figure Jeff Moyes.• Offered with a current FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP); eligible for the Tour Auto, Peter Auto, Modena Cento Ore, and numerous premier historic events.Completed in August 1965, chassis 302017 was dispatched to the United States, where it was delivered through Porsche Northbrook of Illinois. Finished in Signal Red over a Black Leatherette interior, the car was supplied to its first owner on 20 November 1965.During its early life, this short-wheelbase 911 was enjoyed primarily as a road car before entering occasional competition in the mid-1970s under the ownership of John Lee. Between 1974 and 1978, Lee campaigned the car in a variety of SCCA Regional and National events across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Following the conclusion of the 1978 season, the Porsche returned to road use.In 2011, the car was acquired by Jeff Moyes, who served for more than three decades as After Sales Manager at Porsche Guildford (formerly AFN). A respected figure within both the Porsche community and historic motorsport circles, Moyes sought an early 2. 0-litre 911 to prepare for FIA historic competition and identified chassis 302017 as an ideal candidate, subsequently importing the car to the United Kingdom.Upon its arrival, the Porsche underwent a comprehensive restoration and race preparation. The bodyshell was stripped to bare metal, strengthened where permitted under FIA regulations, and fitted with a full FIA-specification roll cage by Custom Cages. Following completion of the fabrication work, the shell was refinished in its original Signal Red by renowned Porsche specialists SportWagen. Benefiting from Moyes' longstanding association with Porsche, the engine and running gear were rebuilt in-house to full FIA specification, creating a highly competitive and meticulously prepared historic racing car.By the time the restoration was completed, Moyes was actively campaigning his Porsche 356 Speedster, leaving little opportunity to race the newly finished 911. As a result, the car was sold to historic racer David Pickering, who further developed its performance, commissioning JAZ Porsche to carry out additional engine tuning before the car passed to its current owner in 2017.Eligible for a broad range of prestigious historic motorsport events, the Porsche has most recently been enjoyed on several editions of the Modena Cento Ore. Under current ownership, the car has continued to benefit from careful development, including a comprehensive rebuild of the braking system and gearbox, the installation of Bilstein dampers, a new 100-litre fuel tank, Lexan side and rear windows, and a plumbed-in fire suppression system.Today, chassis 302017 is offered with a current FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) and presents as a thoroughly sorted example of the coveted early 911. Equally suited to circuit competition or Europe's premier historic touring events, it is eligible for an exceptional array of prestigious meetings, including the Tour Auto, Peter Auto's 2. 0L Cup, the Modena Cento Ore, and numerous other international historic events.
