Seller's comments about 1969' Porsche 911

The Porsche 911 has been a mainstay of sports car racing since it was introduced in 1964, but it’s easy to forget that many of its early successes came in rallying. British ace Vic Elford, for example, finished third on the 1966 Tour de Corse – a result he repeated on the following year’s Rallye Monte-Carlo. He went on to win the 1967 European Rally Championship, Pauli Toivonen did likewise in 1968, and the 911 took a hat-trick of victories on the Rallye Monte-Carlo between 1968 and 1970.That all-round versatility is perfectly demonstrated by the Porsche 911 T being offered for sale here. Built in February 1969 to North American specification and finished in Light Ivory, it was delivered to the Porsche Cars Pacific dealership in California and sold new on 4 March 1969, and in recent years it has been used for both circuit racing and rallying.First registered in the UK on 25 October 1991, it was subsequently raced on a regular basis before being acquired by David Dennet. As the founder of Essex-based Porsche specialist DSD Motorwerks, Dennet set about rebuilding it to his own specification. He started with the 2-litre flat-six engine, which he rebuilt in-house with JE pistons, S-spec camshafts and numerous other upgrades that led to it producing 180bhp on the dyno – a considerable improvement on the 110bhp with which a standard 911 T would have left the factory.A full roll cage was fitted, along with race seats and harnesses, a limited-slip diff and a WEVO gearshift mechanism. FIA HTP papers were issued in 2016, and the car was used on a variety of events that year, including the La Mothe-St-Héray hillclimb in central France, the Rallye des Jonquilles near Calais, and the Circuit des Remparts meeting at Angouleme – plus the Rally de Portugal and Rally of the Tests. After the current owner bought the 911 in 2017, he converted it into a specification that was more suited specifically to classic rally use. The updates and preparation involved going through every inch of the car, with no expense being spared which is demonstrated by the actual quality of the physical work carried out along with the many invoices detailing the complete scope of works completed.Internal event preparation works include Schroth safety Harness’, map-light, a plumbed in fire extinguisher with remote handheld unit, a Brantz trip meter and stopwatch – both set up with the all-important separate drivers displays for full focus on time and distance both sides of the car when competing. Other works included the fitment of a heated front screen along with much focus on lightening the car with fitment of Perspex windows to the sides and rear. The underside is protected with front and rear sump guards. After the works were completed the 911 was then used on the 2019 Rally of the Tests, with further work – including a gearbox rebuild carried out by Porsche Brooklands between 2019 and 2022.The Weber carburettors were overhauled in December 2025, and the end result is a superbly prepared, reliable and competitive 911 that has wanted for nothing in recent years. Not only is it eligible for a wide range of events, but it also comes with an extensive collection of spares that includes four Fuchs roadwheels with winter tyres, two race seats, roll-cage side bars, plus numerous other parts, spare exhaust system, alternator and ignition components. The car is currently with Rally Preparation Services sister Company, the RPS storage facility and available for inspection. All viewings and test drives welcomed by appointment at Rally Preparation Services. All enquiries please contact us
