Seller's comments about 1967' Reliant Scimitar

Pavilion Gardens | Buxton, DerbyshireViewing: Tues 28th April 2026 from 12pmAuction: Wed 29th April 2026 from 9amLocation: St John's Rd, Buxton SK17 6BE1967 Reliant Scimitar GT SE4AEntered from the Moorlands CollectionEstimate£12, 000 - £16, 000Registration No: KBE 752EChassis No: 400535MOT: ExemptPreviously one of just 17 out of over 130 to finish the infamous Inca Trail rallyOne of just 591 Scimitar SE4A examples producedExtensively prepped and fettled for historic rallyingFitted with the desirable 3-Litre Ford V6 engineOffered for sale with a large history file with dozens of maintenance invoices, and a current Swansea V5CThe Scimitar was manufactured between 1964 and 1986, Reliant's first Scimitar being a coupé based on the styling of a Daimler SP250 prototype and the chassis of a Reliant Sabre. The initial SE4 was powered by a 2. 6-litre straight-six from the Ford Zephyr/ Zodiac and to keep costs down, many components were off-the-shelf items. The engine was mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with optional Laycock overdrive. Suspension was by wishbones and coil springs at the front with a live axle, coil springs and a modified Watts linkage at the rear. Steering was by rack and pinion and braking by Girling discs/ drums. The introduction of the SE4A/ B saw utilisation of V6 power, with a 3-litre Ford Essex unit fitted.Previously one of just 17 out of over 130 entrants to finish the infamous Inca Trail rally, this example has been extensively prepared for historic rallying. One of just 591 Scimitar SE4A examples produced and fitted with the desirable 3-litre Ford V6 engine it is described as running and driving without fault. Overall cosmetically in good order, with a few minor blemishes as befits a historic rally car, it comes with a large history file with many maintenance invoices and V5C.** Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via our H&H website, by telephone and commission - T&Cs apply**Parking and entry into the auction is free for auction attendees with a catalogue, available at the door. Catalogues can be purchased for £20 (admits 2 people).
