The story is long but interesting:
The first owner of this car was (now deceased) Mr. Nikodem S. In 1967, according to information from his family, he was in the USA as a Polish military employee. At that time, there was a 10 percent discount on VW Beetles in the USA. So the Beetle was ordered in the USA, but brought directly to Poland to Rzepin (near the German border) and from there, according to the family, collected personally by Mr. Nikodem. The transaction is confirmed by the Money Transfer of December 6, 1967 (for the amount of DM 4,832.50, and after conversion, USD 1,217.99) from Washington D.C. to Wolfsburg, Germany. The dealer who imported the car, PHZ Transzeter S.A., was located at ul. Olszewska 8 in Warsaw, which is confirmed by the Order for tourist car delivery. The delivery was to C. Hartwig S.A., Rzepin, Poland on April 20, 1968.
The purchased car is a VW 1300 model - Type 113021
From new, until around 2000, the car was serviced at the VW Lambert Dealership in Warsaw. The owner kept very detailed records about the car's operation. He carefully recorded the number of kilometers traveled, including the load (i.e. how many people were driving the car), all repairs, inspections, fluid changes and refueling, along with prices. From the notes and from conversations with the heirs, I know that the car was never used in winter. It was always kept in a dry garage, which confirms its almost perfect condition. Most of the bodies have the first - original paint in impeccable condition!
According to the heirs, the car was involved in an accident with a deer in the 1980s, which resulted in the front hood being replaced and the front wheel arches being painted.
In 2010, the Tectyl chassis was protected against corrosion.
The family does not remember it undergoing any major bodywork or paint work. The inspection shows that spot touch-ups were done in several places.
In 2014, a tow hook was installed, made according to the original pattern, but meeting current standards (screwable tip).
In the fall of 2015, the car was grazed on the left rear wheel arch by another car maneuvering in a parking lot. During the painting work, the front hood was repaired, as it already had chips due to poor previous painting. Rust efflorescence was repaired and the bottom of the left door, the triangle under the fuel filler and the part under the right front wheel arch along with the bottom protection were painted.
From new until 2014, the car changed hands once and a co-owner was added once, but all within one family. First, it was registered to Mr. Nikodem S., then in 1984 (for reasons unknown to me) his wife was added as a co-owner, and then, after Mr. Nikodem's death, in 2010 the car was re-registered to his son (Michał). In 2014, on April 13 - my name day, my son sold me this car (for the first time to someone outside the family).
In 2015, a certificate of authenticity was issued by the VW museum in Wolfsburg. According to him: VIN is 118 597 135, engine number F1 339 031, model 113 021, VW 1300 Sedan, F engine: 40 DIN-PS, 1.3 liters, body color L 639 Zenith Blue, interior Leatherette Black, rims in L680 Cumulus White, wheel disk L43 Gray Black. Additional equipment: M095 VW radio “Wolfsburg”, M218 Wheel trim ring, M345 (which the Museum is unable to identify!), M616 Reversing lights.
The car currently takes part in numerous VW Beetle and vintage car rallies.
It is stored in a dry, heated garage. He also never drove in winter. From autumn to spring it stands in the garage supported by trestles to relieve the load on the suspension and tires (Vredestein with the original VW tread pattern).
Due to the transportation of children, rear seat belts were installed (dedicated belts for the Beetle, screwed into the factory mounting holes).
I have the original radio. However, due to the fact that it works only on analog radio waves and was connected only to the original mono speaker in the dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel, in 2018 I bought a modern personalized radio with a dedicated subwoofer from RetroSound from the USA. The appearance resembles the original VW radio, although it has an electronic display. It has a radio with the ability to receive digital stations, Bluetooth, hidden USB, subwoofer output. New Blaupunkt speakers have been installed in the shelf behind the rear seat.
Extras: original VW shelf under the dashboard, original VW shelf for the tunnel next to the gear stick, optional shelf behind the rear seat, dedicated roof rack, driver and passenger headrests mounted on the original seats.
Additionally, a Niewiadów N250 trailer was purchased and it is also painted in L 639 Zenith Blue. It is a perfect visual combination with the Beetle, providing loading space for many pieces of luggage while traveling.
The car was supposed to stay in our family "for life", but the situation forces us to change our plans and pass this piece of our love and soul into other good hands.
I dare say that there is no other car like this! Condition almost like from the factory. It has every, even the smallest, original screw. The engine compartment is complete with every smallest piece of metal, as well as the front trunk with a cardboard electrical plug, trunk padding, etc.
What makes it stand out from others? Other Beetles have been restored many times, welded, various spare parts of the chassis, bodywork, etc. have been added. This one has never been restored! And he's 55 years old...
I hope that the buyer will not need a loan, although this hunchback played in a TV commercial for ING bank :-)
