Seller's comments about 1964' Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
For sale as you can see, a beautiful Karmann Ghia 1600 semi-automatic, restored and complete, although it has not been practically used for several years. The color is silver pearl, original from VW (at the beginning of the century, Passats were released in this color). The car was made in Wrocław from scrap to visible condition. in the photos. Of course, I have analog photos from the time during the renovation. A bit of history: The basic elements of the car were bought for German marks in a condition close to scrap in the last century. All the equipment was in boxes, loose or missing at all. Please remember that 25 years ago there were no clubs, websites, classic car specialists and the registration of vintage vehicles did not exist. Nevertheless, with the help of advertisements from German newspapers, the telephone book and, of course, my father, we managed to do a decent bodywork using the original repairs, find and buy some missing details, paint it, make nice upholstery, etc. Unfortunately, both my father and the main contractors of this renovation from years ago they left for the eternal highways, so all that remains is the testimony of their work and passion in photos and live in this car. A little about the car: Due to the technical condition of some of the original elements and the "impossibility" related to the regulations in force at that time, it was necessary to use parts of the chassis from another VW, i.e. TL1600 from the 1960s, seats from a Suzuki Swift from scrap (but comfortable and with headrests), and many things can simply be added/finished. Others, such as the slats on the sides, could not be completed, so the mounting holes were welded smoothly and actually I like it better this way (there were no doors from this point down anyway ;-). The upholstery is made entirely of one material, plus doors with original embroidered eco-leather pockets. As you can see, the level of refinement is obviously different from the originals made today, but there is not a gram of rust (apart from trips, it has been garaged all its life). The paint is in almost perfect condition, the double intake engine and the gearbox have never caused any problems, although of course the car can be picked up on a tow truck - it has not been serviced and has not been started for 3 years, so now I wouldn't risk turning the starter and driving. After the mechanical inspection , carburetor service, fluid replacement (probably tires), cleaning and renewing the stamp in the ID card, you can immediately go to the rally or anywhere else without shame; Personally, the furthest I've ever driven it was from Wrocław to Sztum and back without any problems. A few years ago, before the grounding, he was running through the hills of the Kłodzko Valley, he didn't drink oil or drip under himself. Just a healthy car. As you can see in the photos, it would be perfect to do some cosmetic work on the engine compartment, trunk or interior under the dash, but that's up to the new owner so he doesn't get bored ;-) Everything works except the clock on the dash and the rear window heating. The radio was also left original, but for better sound I connected it to an Alpine amplifier and speakers in the rear side panels. It plays very nicely and quite loudly when needed. The loudspeaker on the board and the strip of leather visible in the photo are of course a dummy and additionally mask a crack in the original element of the board - it was not possible to find a replacement. Price: It would probably be higher in the original, but due to the general "mongrelization" and a replacement nameplate ( but with the inscription Karmann Ghia
