Description:
The racing driver Caroll Shelby used parts from his successful racing car (AC-Shelby Cobra) to build a highly performance-enhanced sports car based on the Ford Mustang Fastback. It could be ordered from the Ford Motor Company, then was converted by Caroll Shelby's company and delivered as either a street car or a racing car. The first Shelby version of the Mustang appeared in 1965. All '65 Shelbys were painted white with (optional) parallel blue stripes from tip to tail.
After its completion at Shelby in 1965, this Ford Mustang GT 350 was shipped to Tasca Ford and sold to its first owner Richard G. Leuchner in August 1966. The rest of the story is well documented in this Shelby Register. In the 1990s the car arrived in Sweden via England Lars Göran Andersson. Under his direction, the vehicle was completely restored and prepared for use in historic motorsport. In 2013 the car was sold to the last owner Hipólito Pires in Portugal. The vehicle was successfully used at many Peter Auto events such as Le Mans Classic, Tour Auto and other series. The engine has currently been completely overhauled by the company Total Performance. An excerpt from the Shelby Register and many invoices from the 1960s are available.
